| Apa itu HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) ? HIV adalah virus yang memusnahkan sistem ketahanan badan seseorang dan menyebabkan AIDS. Terdapat 2 jenis virus HIV iaitu HIV-1 dan HIV-2. HIV-1 merupakan jangkitan yang sangat berbahaya kepada orang ramai manakala HIV-2 pula tidak begitu berbahaya. HIV menyerang Sistem daya tahan badan, menyebabkan badan lemah dan tidak berupaya melawan jangkitan penyakit. Jika seseorang disahkan dijangkiti HIV, orang itu dipanggil positif HIV tetapi tidak semestinya dia menghadapi AIDS kerana AIDS adalah peringkat terakhir jangkitan HIV.
Bagaimanakah HIV boleh dijangkiti? HIV boleh dijangkiti melalui cara-cara berikut:
HIV hanya boleh dipindahkan apabila bendalir badan (darah termasuk darah haid, air mazi dan air mani) daripada individu yang telah dijangkiti memasuki tubuh individu yang belum dijangkiti. Darah atau cecair-cecair badan boleh memasuki salur darah orang lain melalui luka, kesan lecetan, kudis atau lain-lain cara. Mereka yang menjaga pesakit-pesakit AIDS dan yang memberi pertolongan cemas patut mengambil langkah berjaga-jaga dengan menggunakan sarung tangan getah semasa melakukan tugas. Seks selamat meminimumkan risiko jangkitan, tetapi tidak menghapuskan jangkitan sama sekali. Aktiviti seksual akan sentiasa mempunyai risiko terutama jika salah seorang pasangan adalah positif HIV. Seks selamat juga boleh mencegah jangkitan penyakit kelamin yang boleh meninggikan risiko jangkitan HIV. Penyakit-penyakit kelamin memudahkan HIV menjangkiti sel-sel badan. Bagaimanakah HIV tidak boleh dijangkiti? HIV tidak dapat hidup di luar tubuh manusia. HIV tidak boleh berjangkit melalui air peluh, air kencing atau air mata. HIV tidak boleh berjangkit menerusi kulit yang sihat ataupun melalui udara. HIV tidak boleh hidup di luar badan manusia seperti di atas kulit atau pakaian, dalam air atau udara. HIV tidak boleh dijangkiti melalui:
Apakah tanda-tanda atau simptom-simptom jangkitan HIV? Permulaan jangkitan HIV biasanya tidak menunjukkan sebarang tanda. Sebilangan pesakit mengalami gejala-gejala berikut dalam masa 2-6 minggu selepas dijangkiti HIV seperti demam, selesema, sakit tekak, batuk, sakit otot, sakit kepala, cirit-birit, bengkak kelenjar limfa, letih, ruam, sakit sendi atau turun berat badan tetapi ini berlainan dari seseorang ke seseorang yang lain. Tanda-tanda awal ini boleh sembuh dalam beberapa hari. Penyakit-penyakit ringan seperti ini juga mungkin bukan disebabkan HIV tetapi akibat jangkitan virus yang lain. Oleh kerana tanda-tanda ini boleh sembuh seperti biasa, is sering disangka sakit biasa. Ada juga kesan yang dipanggil asymptomatic, iaitu tidak menunjukkan apa-apa tanda sama sekali, yang mungkin mengambil masa beberapa tahun tanpa diketahui sehinggalah sistem daya tahan badannya menjadi lemah dan orang tersebut jatuh sakit disebabkan jangkitan penyakit yang berulang-kali. Keadaan ini amat merbahaya kerana dalam jangka waktu tersebut seseorang yang positif HIV mungkin akan memindahkan virus yang terselindung ini kepada orang lain tanpa disedarinya. Jadi satu-satunya cara untuk mendapat kepastian adalah dengan menjalani Ujian Antibodi HIV terutamanya jika anda rasa anda telah melakukan aktiviti yang berisiko. Jangan terlalu yakin jika anda berasa sihat. Jangkitan HIV tidak menunjukkan tanda sehingga sistem daya tahan badan anda mulai menjadi lemah. Anda bernasib baik jika ia tiada dalam tubuh anda. Tapi mungkin juga virus itu sedang membiak dan memusnahkan sistem daya tahan badan anda sedikit demi sedikit. Anda mungkin tidak merasakannya, sehingga hampir keseluruhan sistem daya tahan badan anda dimusnahkan. Dan dalam pada anda tidak menyedari kehadiran HIV itu anda mungkin telah menjangkiti orang lain. Pengesahan segera memungkinkan rawatan segera jika anda disahkan positif HIV. Sebaliknya, alangkah leganya jika anda disahkan tidak menghidapinya. Bagaimanakah caranya untuk mengetahui samada saya telah dijangkiti? Satu-satunya cara untuk mengetahui samada anda telah dijangkiti virus HIV adalah dengan menjalani Ujian Antibodi HIV. Ujian Antibodi HIV Ujian Antibodi HIV ialah ujian darah bagi mengesan kehadiran antibodi HIV dalam tubuh. Antibodi ialah sejenis protin yang dihasilkan oleh tubuh badan bagi melawan anasir-anasir asing seperti kuman dan virus yang menyerang sistem badan. Terdapatnya antibodi HIV dalam darah menunjukkan jangkitan HIV telah berlaku. Bagaimanapun bagi jangkitan HIV, antibodi HIV yang dihasilkan ini hanya mampu melawan virus HIV ini di peringkat awal jangkitan. Bila virus HIV ini membiak dan menjadi semakin banyak, antibodi HIV ini menjadi semakin lemah dan tidak berupaya melawannya. Mengikut cadangan doktor, ujian HIV ini perlu dijalankan setelah 3 bulan daripada tarikh kemungkinan terkena jangkitan, walaupun bagi sebahagian orang kewujudan antibodi HIV dalam darah dapat dikesan seawal 2 minggu atau secara puratanya 25 hari selepas jangkitan. Bagi sebahagian orang pula antibodi HIV hanya dapat dikesan dalam darah setelah 3 bulan. Jika keputusan ujian setelah 3 bulan itu adalah negatif maka anda perlu membuat satu ujian HIV lagi setelah 6 bulan daripada tarikh kemungkinan terkena jangkitan. Ini kerana tubuh mungkin mengambil masa selama enam bulan untuk mengeluarkan antibodi HIV secukupnya. Jadi 2 ujian setelah 3 bulan dan setelah 6 bulan mampu memberikan keputusan yang lebih meyakinkan. Ujian pertama yang menunjukkan keputusan negatif iaitu setelah 3 bulan bermakna antibodi HIV tidak dikesan di dalam contoh darah yang diuji. Namun ini belum mengesahkan bahawa orang berkenaan bebas daripada HIV. Ini adalah kerana terdapat satu tempoh (yang dipanggil “window period”) dimana antibodi HIV tidak dapat dikesan didalam darah kerana badan belum menghasilkannya, walaupun telah terdapat virus HIV yang banyak dalam darah atau air mani. Waktu antara jangkitan dengan penghasilan antibodi HIV dipanggil “Window Period”. Jadi sepatutnya mereka yang dikesan negatif dalam ujian pertama, perlu menjalani ujian darah sekali lagi setelah 3 bulan lagi (iaitu setelah 6 bulan daripada tarikh kemungkinan terkena jangkitan) supaya status anda dapat ditentukan dengan lebih yakin. Perlu diingatkan bahawa dalam jangkamasa enam bulan elakkan aktiviti-aktiviti berisiko tinggi agar ujian-ujian anda tidak sia-sia. Keputusan yang positif bermaksud antibodi HIV telah dikesan dalam darah. Walau bagaimanapun, ini tidak semestinya bermakna orang itu akan jatuh sakit dalam masa yang singkat. Seseorang yang positif HIV perlu mendapatkan kaunseling dan rawatan yang sempurna untuk mengekalkan kesihatan dan memanjangkan hayatnya. Mengapa perlu melakukan ujian HIV awal? Pengesanan jangkitan HIV yang awal boleh menyebabkan anda mengambil langkah-langkah yang sewajarnya untuk melambatkan penyebaran virus HIV dalam badan dan boleh melangsungkan hidup lebih lama. Info Rawatan: Rawatan untuk HIV melibatkan pemusnahan kuman virus tersebut dan merawat simptom yang dialami oleh pesakit seperti ubat antiretrovirus yang menyerang dan memusnahkan retrovirus, termasuklah HIV. Beberapa tahun kebelakangan ini, para penyelidik telah mencapai kemajuan besar dalam penghasilan pelbagai rawatan pilihan AIDS/HIV. Pengambilan makanan berkalori tinggi bersama protein dan karbohidrat yang cukup, boleh mempertahankan diri dari kekurangan zat makanan, malserapan nutrien, penurunan sistem imun dan susut badan. Pemakanan yang baik akan membantu mengurangkan kesan buruk dadah dan juga meningkatkan kebolehan tubuh untuk menyerap ubat-ubatan tertentu. Terdapat bukti yang kukuh mengenai senaman yang dapat memperbaiki mood dan kualiti hidup individu positif HIV – menjadikan mereka lebih kuat, meningkatkan daya ketahanan dan melindungi mereka daripada infeksi. 5 fad diets to avoid in new year
LONDON: One recommends sitting in a cold bath after drinking black coffee, while another involves being fed through an intravenous drip.
They are among the top five celebrity fad diets that experts have warned should be avoided in the New Year.
The British Dietetic Association said that diets followed by the rich and famous were becoming "more extreme" and increasingly involved "medical intervention".
Dieticians warned there really is "no quick fix" to a slim, trim body for 2013 and said that following celebrity fads could lead to health problems.
Among the most disturbing entries was the Ketogenic enteral nutrition diet, said to be followed by top fashion models.
The KEN diet involves eating nothing at all. Instead, a liquid formula is administered through a feeding tube inserted through the dieter's nose. You are attached to a portable pump and liquid bag for 10 days and can unhook yourself for only 60 minutes every 24 hours.
BDA consultant dietician Sian Porter described the procedure as "shocking" and something "usually reserved for the chronically ill".
The list also included the bizarre party girl IV drip diet. Offered at private clinics for about STG225 (RM1,125) a time, it involves a high-dose cocktail of vitamins and nutrients administered via a drip of the type used to treat the severely malnourished and clinically ill, supposedly providing a "power boost".
Porter said: "There is little evidence that this even works in well people. Even if it did, food and drinking water or other healthy drinks is preferable to having an IV drip inserted into your body."
She added: "Our concern is that many of these diets are quite invasive. It shows the extreme lengths that people are willing to go to in order to lose weight.
"Eating is a pleasure and people should enjoy their food."
The carb-free Dukan diet was named as the worst offender for the third year in a row. The Dukan Diet became the bestselling diet book of all time, with more than a million copies sold in Britain alone. It is credited with Carole Middleton's svelte figure at her daughter Kate's wedding to Prince William.
But the BDA described it as "confusing, time-consuming, very rigid" and warned it could cause "lack of energy, constipation and bad breath".
The six weeks to OMG (Oh My God) diet was dismissed as "six weeks of hell and isolation". Its London-based creator, Venice A. Fulton, recommends doing exercise first thing in the morning after drinking black coffee, and sitting in a cold bath to burn stored fat.
The BDA attacked as "madness" the increasingly popular alcorexia or drunkorexia diet, which encourages followers to shun calories during the week so that they can binge on alcohol at the weekend. Porter said: "After Christmas, people often look for a quick fix. They see air-brushed celebrities and aspire to look like that.
"But if it looks too good to be true, it usually is. We see new health fads and diets every year but there is no substitute for exercising and a balanced diet."
Helen Davies, spokesperson on behalf of the Dukan Diet, said: "The BDA's only criticism of the Dukan diet is that it's 'confusing, time-consuming (and) very rigid' - some would say this is a very necessary part of changing any sort behaviour pattern - and somehow the BDA judge this to be worse than feeding yourself via a drip or replacing food with alcohol?" - DM

LONDON: VISITS to the dentist are never pleasant. Not only do we have our pearly whites scraped, prodded and drilled, we then have to endure a telling-off for not having flossed.
Dentists insist it will keep our teeth sparkling and free from decay, as well as keeping our gums healthy. Regular flossing has even been said to protect us from heart disease. Yet, for most of us who try wrestling with the tape, it only results in a cricked neck and bleeding gums.
And now, according to a provocative new book, Kiss Your Dentist Goodbye, it seems that dedicated followers of flossing could actually be wasting their time.
The book is causing waves because it's written by United States-based Dr Ellie Phillips, who was among the first women dentists to train at Guy's Hospital here.
She says that flossing -- and that goes for whichever gizmo, gadget or bit of tape you choose to use - will do nothing to reduce your risk of tooth decay.
The science, she says, is on her side. Only one study has shown a benefit, and that involved a group of schoolchildren who did not floss themselves, but instead had their teeth flossed by a hygienist five days a week for two years.
And a study published in the British Dental Journal in 2006 found no difference in the number of cavities suffered by adults who flossed and those who did not.
So is Dr Phillips right? Surprisingly, it seems she may be - but only up to a point.
"In all fairness, there is no evidence that flossing is effective in preventing tooth decay in the long run," says Dr Graham Barnby, a dentist who is also a member of the Simply Health Advisory Research Panel, which analyses the latest research and medical thinking.
"So in a sense, she does have a point. Yet although the benefits of flossing may be limited with tooth decay, flossing does have a role in the prevention of gum disease."
Tooth decay occurs when acid in the mouth eats away at the teeth. This acid is found in foods, but is mainly produced when bacteria in the mouth "digest" sugar - hence the reason sweets rot our teeth.
Gum disease, on the other hand, is caused by plaque - a film of bacteria on the teeth which, if not removed with brushing, irritates the gums, causing them to bleed and recede.
If left, the plaque hardens into tartar, which irritates the underlying bone of the gums and, in severe cases, can lead to wobbly teeth.
Dr Phillips argues that rather than flossing or using brushes, all you need to do is use three different mouthwashes -- one before brushing, and two after.
People often clean their teeth immediately after eating, yet this can lead to the teeth wearing away because food softens teeth. - DM

3 Speak with clarity and purpose.
The purpose of your communication should be clear from the
beginning. An appropriate tone and volume can inform listeners you mean what
you say, you have thought about what you are saying, and what you are saying is
worth hearing.
4 Develop your writing skills.
Proofread your emails, letters, and notes. Learn correct spelling
and word usage.
Vary your sentence structures. Be concise instead of elaborate.
5 Listen intently.
Not only should one be able to speak effectively, one must listen
to the other person’s words and engage in communication on what the other
person is speaking about. Listening requires focus and self-discipline.
We listen for many different reasons: to understand instructions,
to empathize with another individual, or to judge whether a plan is good or

6 Ask questions.

Bercuti di Besut, Terengganu
Hye, bercuti merupakan salah satu aktiviti yang mampu mengurangkan
tekanan (stress). Ini salah satu cara yang sangat effective untuk masa
sekarang ni.
Percutian HH bersama rakan-rakan sungguh menarik apabila sahabat kami, D'Gojess Waras ada majlis perkahwinan kakak beliau, kami menaiki kereta dari Shah Alam terus ke Besut. Pelbagai kenangan indah yang dapat kami kongsi bersama. Banyak juga tempat menari yang dapat kami kongsikan.
Makanan
Sepanjang berada di sana, pelbagai jenis makanan yang jarang sekali kita dengar dan dapat makan kat KL ni. Contohnyer nasi air, che mek molek, cote, colek, banyak la nama pelik-pelik. hahahah tapi banyak makanan yang membuatkan HH rasa terengganu ni syurga makanan. Sebab pagi-pagi sahaja sarapan bukan main berat- Nasi dagang, nasi kerabu.. wow.. Makanan orang melayu sungguh menarik dan nikmat. Tapi kalo tersilap langkah... hahahahah kencing manis la jawabnyer :)
Shopping
Banyak tempat yang HH di bawa oleh kawan-kawan di area Kelantan dan Terengganu. Jeti besut, Pasih Mas, Wakaf Che Yeh, Kuala Terengganu.. banyak la sebenarnya. Kenangan dengan kawan-kawan sungguh indah. HH tak suka bercerita sangat, HH suka berkongsi gambar dari berceloteh :)
Perkahwinan
Alang-alang dah di jemput datang kenduri perkahwinan kakaknyer Si D'Gojess Waras, apa lagi.. HH pun nak belajar la juga adat-adat Kelantan dan Terengganu ni. Rupanya di tempat mereka tak sama gan KL dan selangor. Lelaki dan perempuan mesti duduk di khemah yang berasingan. Lelaki buat kerja dapur dan mengemas, perempuan lebih keje menghias... di dapur plak, Datin Azizah, ibunya D'Gojess Waras yang meneraju masakan utama majlis. :) sangat sedap masak ayam cili, timun, arca dan sebagainya. Menarik tentang perjalanan kami ni adalah, dari Shah Alam, singgah ke Melaka dan menginap di rumah sewa Scha Qir dan menanti ketibaan Kay. Kami empat orang sahaja yang merancang dan bergerak ke Besut. dalam perjalanan kami, kami sempat singgah ke UiTM Segamat, bertemu rakan-rakan junior dan menerusi Pahang, Kelantan dan terus tiba ke Besut.
